Physalis, also known as gooseberry, cape gooseberry, pineapple cherry, originates from Peru. Nowadays they are grown in Kenya, Madagascar, Colombia and New Zealand. Physalis grows at a 1 to 2 meter high herbaceous plant. Ripe berry is yellow in color and contains soft edible seeds
