Passionfruit

A passion fruit grows on climbing plants. The fruit comes from the passion flower. Only when a wrinkled skin develops, the fruit is well ripened.
The passion fruit is originally from South America. You see this fruit growing all over the world nowadays. Provided the climate is (sub) tropical. According to Spanish missionaries, the passion flower depicts the suffering of Jesus. These missionaries gave the fruit its special name.
