Pineapple

The pineapple grows on the stem and can grow up to 30cm long and 4kg heavy.

The natural pollinator of the pineapple is the hummingbird. Columbus discovered the plant on his journey. Spaniards called the pineapple ‘pina’ because of its resemblance to the pine cone. The Pineapple is now also sold without its ‘crown’ because the transport is cheaper. The leaves take up a lot of space and the Pineapple still tastes good!
